Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the present on this city, reaping the ill-gotten features from the medication, the weapons, the prostitutes and — if he has his approach — each wire wager positioned west of Chicago. And he does all of it with the safety of not solely his personal paid goons, but additionally the police and the politicians who’re below his management. It’s sufficient to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop… besides, maybe, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come collectively to attempt to tear Cohen’s world aside.
